The Long-Range Research Initiative (LRI) of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) promotes innovations in chemical safety assessment. It invests in science essential for understanding the impact of chemicals on human health and the environment.

With a focus on biologically-relevant exposures, LRI adopts an integrated approach to exposure and hazard characterization to promote a shift in focus away from development of safety assessments based solely on hazard or exposure data.

Through integration and translation of its research outcomes, LRI transforms this information into knowledge that can inform decisions and policies about the safety of chemicals relevant to current environmental and public health challenges.

ACC LRI's New Request for Proposals (RfP):

Adapting an Interactive Infographic to Communicate Disease Risk Factors in Environmentally Disadvantaged Communities

The US Environmental Protection Agency and other federal and state agencies are in the process of developing and using various approaches, methods, and data to assess cumulative impacts at communities with environmental justice concerns. However, understanding and communicating the differing contributions that chemical and non-chemical stressors have on community health impacts and disease development is lacking. This RfP is focused on developing an interactive infographic for displaying and communicating -to all stakeholders - the relative contributions of various risk factors (biological, behavioral, social, and physical (including chemical and environmental) to a specific health effect or disease state in disadvantaged communities. Proposals must be received electronically by the ACC LRI no later than the close of business on September 6, 2024.
