WASHINGTON, DC (April 4, 2025) – U.S. production of major plastic resins totaled 8.0 billion pounds during February 2025, a decrease of 3.8 percent compared to the prior month, and a decrease of 5.1 percent compared to the same month in 2024, according to statistics released today by the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Year-to-date production was 16.3 billion pounds, a 1.1 percent decrease as compared to the same period in 2024.
Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 8.0 billion pounds during February 2025, a decrease of 4.0 percent compared to the prior month, and a decrease of 4.7 percent from the same month one year earlier. Year-to-date sales and captive use were 16.2 billion pounds, a 2.9 percent decrease as compared to the same period in 2024.
