U.S. chemical producers are the driving force for everyday products that businesses and families rely on every day, including the vehicles they drive. In fact, chemistry is vital to building a wide range of vehicles and making them better.

Seeing is believing so, last week the American Chemistry Council, 12 ACC member companies, the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, Toyota, and Hyundai hosted an auto showcase in the House Rayburn foyer, along with the Congressional Chemistry Caucus, to display tangible examples of how vital chemistry is to a strong and innovative U.S. auto manufacturing industry.
Some of the world’s leading companies brought a wide array of cutting-edge technologies to demonstrate how they harness chemistry to make vehicles more efficient, durable and affordable – both today and into the future.
Did you know...
Each vehicle built in North America contains over $4,000 in chemistry, which has increased by 20% over the past decade.
To keep things rolling and keep America out front, policymakers must fulfill their role when it comes to pushing forward smarter policies that allow chemistry to continue to provide innovative solutions. Among other things, this includes:
- Fixing implementation of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)
- Supporting a sensible United Nations Global Plastics Agreement
- Passing the Plastics Recycling Innovation Act
- Preserving manufacturers’ use and reliance on PFAS chemistries
By making chemistry here in the U.S. we can help make sure that America is the place to build the most innovative vehicles in the world.
