Throughout its history, the chemical industry has come together to enhance understanding of and provide solutions for the world’s largest challenges. Our industry has the power to drive profound and sustainable change. In these challenging times, we must reflect on how we can grow as an industry and as an organization to help contribute to a higher quality of life for people across the country and around the world.

Collaborating for Meaningful Impact: The Future of STEM Scholars Initiative

That’s why ACC partnered with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Chemours and The HBCU Week Foundation to launch the Future of STEM Scholars Initiative, aimed at creating pathways for people from underrepresented groups to enter and succeed in STEM careers within the chemical industry.

Illustrating our Commitments to Sustainability

The chemical industry’s Sustainability Principles include a commitment to “help build and connect communities, elevate standards of living and contribute meaningfully to the world’s economy.” As part of that work, ACC has developed a Workforce Diversity and Inclusion metric to help assess and enhance the diversity of ACC member company governance bodies, workforce and supply chains, as well as commitments companies are making to future workforce diversity and growth.

Diversity provides the potential for greater innovation and creativity in the workforce. Inclusion is what enables organizations to realize the social, business and economic benefits of its diversity potential. This metric presents an opportunity to demonstrate our progress and desire to continue to evolve.
