Fluorotechnology (PFAS) plays a critical role in many alternative energy technologies, leading to reduced emissions and energy costs. Thanks to the insulation properties and the resistance to physical, thermal and chemical challenges of many Fluorotechnologies, products such as lithium batteries, wind turbines, fuel cells and photovoltaic solar panels can be built. Fluoropolymers provide chemically resistant membranes and dividers in fuel cells. They also support the development of the high vapor barrier and transparency, superior weatherability and flexibility to make solar panel front and back sheet films durable, extending product life. Other types of fluorinated polymers support efficient electrolytic ionic migration, allowing for smaller, more efficient lithium batteries used in all types of electronics from automobiles to cell phones.
