The American Chemistry Council (ACC)’s Plastics Division represents the plastics industry—the half-million scientists, engineers, technicians, and innovators who make plastics for many essential and lifesaving products that are vital to modern life.

ACC’s Plastics Division delivers value to our members through best-in-class political advocacy, member engagement, communications, and scientific research. The challenges and opportunities facing the plastics industry and its value chain are growing but our members don’t have to face them alone.

Our members are linking innovation with sustainability, deploying next generation technologies to make plastics more efficient... and more recyclable. So we can meet our goal for 100% of U.S. plastic packaging to be reused, recycled, or recovered by 2040.

Membership Categories

Regular membership with the Plastics Division is open to companies which produce plastic resin inside the United States and have a vested interest in improving the reputation of, increasing market opportunities in, and advancing sustainability throughout the plastics industry.

Any company which, as a significant portion of its business, manufactures, or as a principle causes to be manufactured, plastic resin or monomer sold in the United States is eligible for membership as a Plastics Division Regular Member. For application purposes, “plastic resin” includes plastic resin, pellets or powder, and a “monomer” is the last raw material immediately preceding polymerization of plastic resin.

Value Chain membership with the Plastics Division is open to those companies that support and deliver circular, sustainable solutions end-to-end across the value chain for the production, use, and re-use of plastics.

Any company that is not a manufacturer of plastic resin, but that has a significant economic interest in a competitive plastics industry by being part of the United States plastic value chain is eligible for membership as a Value Chain Member.

Our Vision

A sustainable, responsible, and more circular plastics industry, growing value and delivering benefits for communities, America and the world.

Our Mission

Lead the U.S. plastics industry in driving circular and sustainable solutions by increasing alignment and impact through advocacy, outreach, and partnerships.
