WASHINGTON (June 13, 2017) – The American Chemistry Council (ACC) issued the following statement in support of the Appalachian Energy and Manufacturing Infrastructure Revitalization Act of 2017, introduced yesterday by Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.).

“We commend Senator Capito for helping to streamline the federal permitting process for an Appalachian energy hub. We agree that the Hub should be designated a ‘critical energy infrastructure’ project eligible for expedited federal permitting. The region is poised to become a major center of chemical and plastics manufacturing, if the right energy infrastructure gets built.

“Better coordination among federal regulators and more timely consideration of project applications are sensible steps that will improve the federal permitting process for new energy infrastructure. We urge swift passage by the Senate.”
