WASHINGTON (November 6, 2017) – The American Chemistry Council (ACC) issued the following statement in support of the SECURE American Energy Act (H.R. 4239), introduced by House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Rob Bishop (R-Utah), Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) and Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-Texas).
“We commend Chairman Bishop and Reps. Scalise, Cuellar and Gonzalez for helping to expand and diversify domestic energy supplies while boosting revenues for the U.S. Treasury and energy-producing states. For too long, federal lands and waters have been underutilized as potential suppliers of energy. H.R. 4239 recognizes their role in any sensible long-term strategy. Meanwhile, the bill lets coastal states share in the revenues generated by new development. We look forward to tomorrow’s hearing and urge swift passage by the House.”
H.R. 4239 expands access to energy resources on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS), allows for state revenue sharing, streamlines regulatory permitting for onshore development and transfers permitting authority for leasing on federal lands to states.
