What is one of the key sustainability initiatives currently being implemented by your team, and how does this align with the broader goals of Formula One's sustainability strategy?
As part of our drive to reduce the team’s carbon footprint, primarily from freight, we are continuously migrating race bound freight out of air cargo and into sea cargo. Logistically this creates some challenges as boats of course are much slower than planes, but the reduction in carbon is significant.
How does your team balance the pursuit of high performance and innovation with the need to reduce environmental impact, particularly in areas such as fuel consumption, materials used, and waste management?
By having sustainability and carbon reduction at the heart of what we do, we continuously assess where we can have a positive environmental impact without affecting our race performance or our business operations.
What role do technological advancements play in your sustainability efforts, and how do you see these technologies evolving in the future to further enhance sustainability in Formula One?
I’m very lucky to be a technologist so heavily involved in the team’s sustainability efforts, as there are more synergies between the two verticals than it may appear. Technology, for example, can simplify and enhance large data set analysis, which allows for smarter decision making and less mistakes. By continuously understanding the latest technology and its capability, we can direct it to helping further enhance our sustainability efforts.
