The American Chemistry Council is excited to announce the 2025 Responsible Care® & Sustainability Future Leaders. These exemplary professionals are helping to shape the future of the chemical industry with their dedication to environmental responsibility and sustainable practices.

Harrison Dawson
Harrison Dawson

Harrison Dawson is an Advanced Chemical Engineer in Eastman's Global Sustainability and Decarbonization Division, focusing on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Corporate Sustainability, and Circular Economy Support. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering and a minor in sustainability. Harrison co-leads Eastman's annual CDP reporting efforts and leads Eastman's Scope 3 greenhouse gas inventorying and third-party assurance processes. He also conducts product-level LCAs and serves as Eastman's primary ISCC PLUS technical expert. Beyond his core responsibilities, he is on the leadership team for Eastman's Resource Group for LGBTQ+ members and allies, and he has led Eastman’s recruiting efforts at the University of Arkansas.

Lauren Gutierrez is an Environmental Leader in Dow's EH&S Technology Center. In her role she works with Dow's manufacturing facilities across the globe to drive enhancements in environmental regulatory, reporting and sustainability processes. Lauren holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia and is currently pursuing a Masters in Legal Studies with an emphasis on Environmental Law and Policy from Texas A&M University.

Anissa Jackson

  • Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist, SABIC

Anissa Jackson is a Senior Analyst for Supply Chain Risk Management at SABIC Innovative Plastics in Houston, Texas. She oversees the regional supply chain risk and business continuity strategy and serves as the scope 3 emissions focal point for the Americas. She graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a BS in Chemical Engineering and completed SABIC’s engineering rotational program. Anissa found her passion for sustainability while working with regional manufacturing sites to develop their Carbon Neutrality Roadmaps to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions. In her free time, Anissa enjoys the Houston weather playing pickleball and exploring local coffee shops.

Geoffrey Lyne
Geoffrey Lyne

Geoffrey Lyne is a Lab Engineer at Braskem America’s Innovation & Technology Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In this role, Geoffrey manages all Environmental programs at the site as well as the Chemical Hygiene Program.  He also leads the site’s Process Safety Management program, ensuring innovation is conducted in a safe and sustainable manner. He is responsible for facilitating Process Hazard Analyses, ensuring compliance with relevant state and federal regulatory agencies, and leads the facility’s Safety Committee. Geoffrey graduated from the Ohio State University in 2020 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.

Caroline Pearson
Caroline Pearson

Caroline Pearson is a Sustainability Engineer at Chevron Phillips Chemical, Port Arthur and Orange manufacturing facilities. In her role she supports a company-wide sustainability data digitalization initiative, assembles data for environmental compliance reports, develops and implements strategies to maintain environmental compliance, and fosters a culture of caring for the environment while working toward sustainable operations. Before her career at CPChem, Caroline spent four years working in the consulting industry as an environmental compliance engineer. Caroline holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University. In her free time, Caroline enjoys exercising, cheering on the LSU Tigers and spending time with her cats Oliver and Scout.

Bryce Schiebel
Bryce Schiebel

Bryce Schiebel currently works for Exxon Mobil as the Regulatory Compliance Group Supervisor with 6 years of experience in the petrochemical industry. As the Regulatory Compliance Group Supervisor, he oversees a team of environmental advisors responsible for routine air emissions testing and reporting at the Baton Rouge Refinery & Chemical Complex. Bryce is a 2018 graduate of the University of Florida with a B.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Louisiana. Bryce’s prior experience with Exxon Mobil includes wastewater process design, air permit compliance, and various corporate environmental management systems.

Brian Schmatz
Brian Schmatz

Brian Schmatz is a Sustainability Manager for BASF Fuel & Lubricant Solutions Americas, and has previously held positions in New Business Development & Sales for BASF’s optical imaging business, and R&D Chemist in BASF’s Colors & Effect Pigments business. He holds a PhD in polymer chemistry and has extensive industry experience in polymer recycling, optical materials and technologies, and corporate sustainability. In his current role, Brian engages with stakeholders across the automative and transportation industries to identify opportunities for sustainable innovation with a focus on circular feedstocks and low-emissions products.

Vanessa Thorn
Vanessa Thorn

Vanessa Thorn is the Strategic Initiatives Manager at STOCKMEIER Urethanes USA, Inc. In this role, she supports the company’s vision, strategy and thinking methodologies used to innovate products, introduce novel and disruptive ideas, improve existing processes, and create a culture of innovation within the company. In her seven years at STOCKMEIER, she has played a key role in optimizing new product implementation, incorporating bio-circular raw materials into existing product lines following a biomass balance approach, obtaining numerous product sustainability certifications, ensuring product regulatory compliance, and minimizing waste in production processes. Vanessa holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from West Virginia University and is proud to be a lifelong Mountaineer.

  • Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist, Trinseo

Katrina Veit is the Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist at the Trinseo site in Louisville, KY, where she plays a key role in implementing effective safety programs and environmental management systems. With a strong background in risk assessment and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety, Katrina is dedicated to promoting workplace safety and sustainability while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Katrina holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. She previously worked as a Process Engineer and Developing Engineer for Arkema.

Kenny Yau
Kenny Yau

Kenny Yau is a Sustainability Project Engineer at Axalta Coating Systems, based out of Philadelphia. In this role, he is tasked with developing strategic plans to steer Axalta to achievement of its 2030 Sustainability goals. These goals target reductions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions from Axalta’s nearly 50 manufacturing facilities globally. The goals also involve targets for reductions in waste and air (VOC) emissions and waste generation. Kenny routinely collects and performs analyses of site data and provides internal governance to support projects that are focused on reducing our environmental impact. Kenny holds a BS in Biochemistry from The Pennsylvania State University and a MS in Material Science and Engineering from Drexel University. He has recently completed a certification course for ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems.
