WASHINGTON (January 10, 2017) – The American Chemistry Council (ACC) today applauded the U.S. House of Representatives for passing the “Regulations From the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act,” H.R. 26 and the “Midnight Rules Relief Act,” H.R. 21 last week.

“We applaud House members for approving legislation that will improve the regulatory process and enhance Congressional oversight of major rules affecting the American economy and jobs. The ‘REINS Act’ and the ‘Midnight Rules Relief Act’ are important parts of a broader effort to modernize federal rulemaking, where greater transparency and accountability is sorely needed.

“We commend House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and Reps. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) and Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) for their steadfast leadership on behalf of these bills. Federal regulatory actions with an impact of $100 million or more have increased sharply over the past decade, and such rules deserve careful consideration and thorough review. We look forward to supporting these and other efforts to achieve regulatory reform.”
